Academic Interests

Dr. Michael Macklin is a clinical rheumatologist with interests in systemic sclerosis, autoimmune lung disease and vasculitidies. He is part of the multidisciplinary interstitial lung disease team, which also includes pulmonologists, radiologists, and lung pathology experts in the field of interstitial lung diseases. This collaboration encompasses both patient care and clinical research. Dr. Michael Macklin is also leading multidisciplinary care in systemic sclerosis at the University of Chicago, with interests in clinical trials and clinical research to advance treatment options for this challenging disease. He is also a clinical educator and is involved in the teaching of medical students, internal medicine residents and rheumatology fellows.

General rheumatology with special interests in systemic sclerosis, autoimmune lung disease, vasculitides, lupus, atherosclerosis and chronic kidney disease outcomes in rheumatic disease
