Academic Interests

Dr. Sam’s research focuses on metabolic abnormalities associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). In particular she is interested in the role of adipose tissue on development of insulin resistance and metabolic disorders in PCOS. Dr. Sam’s previous work has shown that PCOS predisposes to abdominal obesity and inflammation in the fat. She continues ongoing work in this area to elucidate the mechanisms for the abnormalities that predispose to insulin resistance.
 

Clinical Interests

PCOS, type 1 and 2 diabetes, thyroid disorders, pituitary disorders, other reproductive disorders such as premature ovarian failure and hypothalamic amenorrhea
