Academic Interests

Dr. Meltzer trained in internal medicine and has a PhD in economics. One major area of his work aims to improve the cost and quality of hospital care. He has studied the effects of hospitalists on costs and outcomes and developed the Comprehensive Care Physician Model. His other main research focus is on the theoretical foundations of medical cost-effectiveness analysis, which he is applying in the context of diabetes and prostate cancer
