Academic Interests

Dr. Walter's academic interests include evidence-based teaching, the development of clinical guidelines, the use of clinical decision rules to avoid unnecessary testing, the management of severe sepsis, emergency department screening for HIV, and the use of CT coronary angiography for patients with chest pain.
Clinical Interests
-
Dr. Walter is board certified in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and critical care and serves as the Director of Quality for the Section of Emergency Medicine. His clinical interests focus on patient safety, collaborative guideline-based care, and emergency department systems/operational issues affecting patient care and follow-up.
