Academic Interests

Dr. Concepcion is a transplant nephrologist who serves as the medical director of the kidney and pancreas transplant program at the University of Chicago. Dr. Concepcion’s research is focused on increasing access to kidney transplantation and improving clinical and patient-centered outcomes of kidney transplant recipients. Dr. Concepcion also participates in multi-center trials which investigate new drugs that could potentially improve outcomes for kidney transplant patients in the future. Nationally, she has served on the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network Kidney Committee and several workgroups of the American Society of Transplantation. She also serves on the National Kidney Foundation Health Equity Advisory Committee. Dr. Concepcion is a dedicated teacher, providing training and education to nephrology fellows, medical residents, and transplant coordinators and nurses through bedside and didactic teaching on clinical topics pertinent to transplant care.
 

Clinical Interests

Dr. Concepcion’s practice is focused on the evaluation, care, and education of kidney transplant patients. This includes managing immunosuppressive medications, posttransplant complications, and overall health maintenance. She works closely with the entire transplant team and colleagues in other specialties to ensure patients receive the best possible care for their complex medical problems at all times.
