Academic Interests

Dr Czapka’s academic interests primarily relate to improving treatment and prophylaxis of infections (particularly fungal and viral) in immunocompromised patients (solid organ transplants and patients with hematologic malignancy). He is active within the Infectious Disease section’s clinical trials group assessing novel antimicrobials and infection prophylaxis. Additional areas of investigation include description and risk stratification of infectious complications of novel immunosuppressive agents (especially CAR T-cell therapy) and diagnostic stewardship.

Infections in organ transplantation; infections in cancer patients; infections in cellular therapy recipients; fungal infections; viral infections
