Academic Interests

Dr. Basu aims to do research and teach in the multi-disciplinary fields of microfluidics, genomics, and nano- and bio-materials. She will draw from these diverse disciplines to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of human disease through new devices technologies. Dr. Basu has trained in these fields during her PhD in soft matter Physics, followed by post-doctoral studies in Applied Physics at Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Science, and single-cell genomics at the Broad Institute. As a joint appointee at Argonne National Lab and University of Chicago, she will continue to work in this very exciting interface of science by bringing bio/nano materials, device capabilities and characterization techniques from Argonne National Lab to answer pressing scientific questions in medicine, genomics, and biology at University of Chicago. http://wordpress.uchospitals.edu/basu-lab/
