Academic Interests

Dr. Rhee focuses his efforts on palliative care and works to provide supportive care and symptom management in the setting of advanced illness. His primary clinical and academic interest is the integration of palliative care with cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, with a focus on patients requiring mechanical circulatory support and advanced heart failure patients. Other interests include physician education, focusing on communication skills and advance care planning, as well as examination of the ethical issues surrounding end of life care. He serves as the director of the Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship program and is an active member of the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine.
